Geri Waza: Kicking Techniques

MAE GERI
FRONT KICK

Knee is brought up first and then kick with toes pulled back, swinging the foot up and striking with the ball of the foot.

MAWASHI GERI
ROUNDHOUSE KICK

Knee is brought up, rotate and turn over and you will pivot on the ball of support foot. Foot is snapped out from the knee and striking with the ball of the foot, can also be done with the instep of the foot.

Knee is brought up and the foot is thrust out to the side, striking with the blade of the foot.

BACK KICK 

Look before you kick, chamber knee, thrust foot out behind you striking mostly with the heel of the foot.


FUMIKOMI GERI (foo-mi ko-mi)
(STOMP KICK) 

Stamping kick. The knee is elevated, as with any other kick, and the foot is directed downwards, often to the opponent’s foot or knee.
